Puppies and Kittens for Christmas, the Responsible Way

Alliance for Albuquerque Animals Offers FREE Gift Baskets with Adoption Gift Certificate

(December 6, 2007) Anyone considering adding a furry friend to their family this holiday season, listen up! Available now at the City of Albuquerque’s East- and Westside Animal Care Centers, as well as the Lucky Paws adoption center in Coronado Mall, are Adoption Gift Certificates which people can redeem for the dog or cat, puppy or kitten of their dreams. While the City’s Animal Care Centers offer these gift certificates year-round, they have been “dressed-up” for the holiday season: the Alliance for Albuquerque Animals is giving out FREE gift baskets with each Adoption Gift Certificate purchased!

“This is perfect for people who are ready to adopt an animal and want to do so over the holidays in a responsible way,” says Alliance for Albuquerque Animals board member Rena Distasio. “And because it is an Adoption Gift Certificate, impulse purchases or adoptions are prevented.”

Not only do the baskets make the Adoption Gift Certificate a more attractive gift to give (and receive!) but they are also an incredibly good deal. Included in each basket are several (dog/cat) toys, (dog/cat) treats, a paw-print Christmas stocking, a photo frame (for a picture of your new best friend), a (dog/cat) training and informational CD, and a little stuffed dog/cat, to tide people over before making the trip to the shelters to pick out the real deal.

Don’t Miss Chance to See Your Pet(s) in Print

Alliance for Albuquerque Animals Seeks Pet Photos for Fundraising Project

(June 18, 2007) The Alliance for Albuquerque Animals, a local non-profit that advocates for City of Albuquerque shelter animals, is wrapping up its annual fundraiser. The 2008 Desk Planner, within which people can purchase pages to have pictures of their very own pets published, is filling up fast. People and businesses have until June 30th to reserve a page.

“This is really a unique opportunity for people to see their animals in print while at the same time truly making a difference by helping homeless pets in the Albuquerque area,” says Debbra Colman, the Alliance’s president and founder. “For businesses, it is a great way to advertise their products and services and to reach a growing community of animal lovers in Albuquerque,” she adds.

Proceeds from the sale of pages, which start at $249, will be used to purchase beds, blankets, toys, and medicine for City of Albuquerque shelter animals.

(April 24, 2007) The Alliance for Albuquerque Animals will offer a low cost microchip and shot clinic on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the West Side Community Center at 1250 Isleta Boulevard SW (south of Bridge Boulevard).

The Alliance for Albuquerque Animals is stepping up to help those have been unable to afford the cost of a microchip. Microchips and rabies shots will be available for $20.00 for both or $10.00 for either, but the Alliance will not turn anyone away for financial reasons.

Interested parties should come to the West Side Community center on Saturday, April 28th between 10AM and 2PM.
